To get rid of lime buildup, make a paste of 1 teaspoon vinegar and 2 tablespoons salt. Apply to sink fixtures and rub with a cloth.

If it's varnished: Add a few drops of lemon oil to 1/2 cup warm water. Spray onto a slightly damp cotton cloth and wipe furniture. If it's unvarnished: Mix 2 teaspoons each of olive oil and lemon juice. Apply to a soft cotton cloth. Use wide strokes to distribute evenly.

Here's a way to track, on an ongoing basis, which clothes you wear and which you tend to ignore. Turn the hangers backward over the rod for items you suspect are worn infrequently. If you pull a garment off and wear it, turn the hanger around properly. Soon it will be easy to spot clothe that aren't getting much use because their hangers will still be backwards.

It would be unrealistic to get rid of that unused majority all at once. Instead, clean out your closet progressively. Start at one end. Look at each garment and assign it to one of three categories:
1. Keep. The keep items that should stay in your closet are those that you wear often. You may find special occasion and sentimentally significant items that you want to hold onto. Identify a separate storage space for these so your closet isn't so full.

You are more likely to wear belts and scarves if you can see them. Storage options include:
* Suspending them on individual hooks screwed into the back of the closet door.
 
* Rolling and placing them in a clear, multi-pocket footwear bag.
 
* Hanging them on a slice-out rack mounted to the closet wall.
 
* Using a hanger-style organizer stored alongside your clothes.
 
 
If you have jewelry that goes with only one outfit, put it in a resealable bag and fasten the bag to the hanger holding that ensemble.

Getting organized not about throwing away your memories. But it's hard to relax when keepsakes compete for your attention from every direction. If you're saving something because it holds a special memory for you, double check whether there's another way to reminisce. Does some other object prompt similar emotions? Consider this: what it giving away an item would enhance its significance? Share your cherished possessions now with younger generations and see them come alive again.

If you keep everything you might need someday, you're going to need a warehouse. If everything seems potentially useful, maybe you're not sure what's truly important to you. Think about your hopes and dreams. Then identify what items or information will support you in achieving them. Without knowing this, all of your stuff can seem worthwhile.

Sometimes the chaos is simply a matter of prized possessions being out of place.
Start a new habit. Whenever you're holding an item, don't put it down unless you're returning it to its home. This doesn't mean you have to pick up everything strewn around your house right now. But the next time you have something in your hand, don't set it back down just anywhere.

When organizing, commit to a single area or pile that you can complete within the time available. When you finish that assignment, you can stop for the day. Of course, if you are motivated to continue, fine. But don't feel guilty if yo wrap up, you only committed yourself to that job. When you're ready, select another area and tackle it. Gradually you'll work your way through the entire house. Remember, any big project is only the sun of several small projects.
 
After you've been working for a while, your space may look like a train wreck. Don't worry you haven't derailed. When you're organizing a cluttered space, it always looks worse before it gets better.

START-with what's most current. In the kitchen, for example, the papers on top of the island are probably both recent and important to you. Get those in order first. As additional mail or kids' papers arrive each day, incorporate them into your new system. Once your new process is working smoothly, you can tackle the backlog of older paper.
